This is the more complete update of all that happened in and through Ascent in January of 2019. I have made it a priority to chronicle this church plant journey to the best of my ability this year. I spend so much time anticipating the future that I love forcing myself to reflect by posting these updates. I don't want to be so focused on the future that I miss what God is doing now. I also think these post are going to be cool to look at in ten years after God has proven Himself to be faithful as we trust that He will. I am sure we will remember these start-up days with great fondness! Thank you to everyone who is following a long and praying for us on this journey! Here are some updates and pictures from this past month. 1. 21 Days of Prayer Our launch team prayed over Ascent for 21 days starting on January 1st. It was awesome! I loved starting our year in prayer together. I am excited to see what God will do. We are confident, because we believe that we are truly empowered by the Spirit. On day 21, we prayed for a culture of prayer. It is my hope that Ascent would be known for prayer, not just for 21 days, but in everything we do! Elm Street Baptist In our email update I asked for you to pray over a meeting we recently had with Elm Street Baptist Church. They have about 8 adults attending services weekly and showed interest in possibly partnering with us. Thank you for praying! The meeting was encouraging in many ways and we are going to meet for 10 weeks beginning in February to see if a partnership is what God has for us. We are trying to walk slowly and humbly. I'd love it if you would commit to praying that God would make His will clear to both parties. 3. Our first launch team meeting. Our goal was to have our first launch team gathering sometime in March, but God had other plans. You see, we haven’t even announced our church publicly yet and we aren’t going to start actively recruiting people to join us until March. However, It’s been so cool to see God working as we already have 14 adults and 13 kiddos on our team. We gathered together for the first time on January 20th to clarify our vision and discuss our plans for the next year. I’m blown away by how awesome our team already is.
We have had a great month. It is has been awesome to watch as God has started to put things in place. There is a lot of work ahead of us, but Taylor and I are very encouraged. Thank you all for praying and giving. We couldn't do this without you. God bless you, Blake

Blake, you and Taylor are more dear to me than you can imagine. This past week end was a high point of my life. (I really mean that) You can count on our prayers for you and any way we can support you in the years I have left.
